THE FUTURE OF THE FOUNDRY INDUSTRY

3D sand printers are the future of the foundry industry, and a large focal point for Alpha. 3D printers are ideal for intricate sand-casting jobs, prototyping patterns, rapid product development, and series production. 3D printing often offers reduced labor and material expense and provides greater design control.

Alpha Foundry has leveraged its early adoption of computer technology to the casting business and can easily produce castings without physical patterns. Beyond that, we are pioneers in applying 3D printed core technology in a hybrid process with our Alpha Process molding, allowing for incredibly intricate core geometry in combination with the exceptional external casting surface quality that our mainline production process is known for.

TODAY, ALPHA RELIES ON EXONE™ 3D PRINTING TECHNOLOGY & EQUIPMENT

Since 1995, ExOne™ has been a leader in technology, innovation, and performance of today’s powerful 3D printers. Their Binder Jetting technology is an additive manufacturing process in which a liquid binding agent is selectively deposited to join powder particles. The results are high quality, reliable, and strong castings.

From the ExOne™ we take the cores and finish them in our ShotShower™ depowdering process that cleans the core, saves on time and labor, and helps keep costs down.

ALPHA’S 3-D PRINTING ADVANTAGES

  • Easier revisions and updates to casting designs.
  • Complex internal geometries on 3-D printed cores eliminates assembling multiple core parts – saving time and money.
  • No patterns to make ship and store…or get damaged.
  • We utilize new Shot Shower™ core depowdering process technology which increases core processing efficiency, reduces time and core scrappage, and permits alpha and numeric characters to be applied for traceability requirements.
